About Firehouse 12:

Firehouse 12 is an award-winning bar, state-of-the-art recording studio and unusually intimate music venue located at 45 Crown Street in New Haven's historic Ninth Square District. For its semi-annual jazz concert series, the striking, acoustically engineered studio space transforms into an incomparable 80-seat venue for some of the most respected names in creative music.

“If you've never been to Firehouse 12, you are missing one of the finest acoustic experiences in this state," wrote the Hartford Courant's Richard Kamins in a recent live review. “Nick Lloyd and crew have created a space that is intimate, in which the instruments sound natural and the music is the priority."

In March 2007, Firehouse 12 officially launched its own label, Firehouse 12 Records, to great acclaim. All four of the recordings released in its first year, including a historic 10- disc box set from the iconic saxophonist/composer Anthony Braxton, made best of 2007 lists in prominent publications and its 2008 schedule promises continued rewards. The label will release renowned Chicago-based flutist/composer Nicole Mitchell's latest CD, Xenogenesis Suite: A Tribute to Octavia Butler, on April 29th.
