Famous Jazz Drummer Walter Perkins Presented with Plaque For 35 Years Service

Jazz drummer Walter Perkins was greeted to a jam packed house full of musicians, vocalists, friends in a special tribute to him. Walter Perkins has been treated for lung cancer with radiation and was escorted by his wife down to Carmichael's Diner in Jamaica, Queens where they play jazz in the basement room. Reuben Bankhead the Creative Jazz Organization's treasurer presented Walter Perkins with a plaque for 35 years of devotion and service to this non-profit jazz organization. Just to name a few present; vocalist Frank Dell, David Jackson,bass Hank Wentz, Saxaphone, Pianists Dave Carter, Bernie Thompson, Hank Johnson, etc. There were many people taking photos, delivering speaches, and it was a very lively and festive event.
