Dom Minasi and Friends Demonstrate "The Art of Takin' It Out" at the Jazz Improv Convention

Dom Minasi, Ken Filiano and Jackson Krall will demonstrate, perform and discuss how to incorporate, within the jazz repertoire, 21st century techniques. Using the arrangement of “Satin Doll" (from Takin' The Duke Out), they will demonstrate and discuss some of the ways to incorporate free-form improvisation, motifs and arranging for standards. They will also demonstrate both the “in & out' versions of improvising and how to create soundscapes and reharmonizations based on Dom's book, Principles of Harmonic Substitution. Some written examples will be given out.
