Daylle Deanna Schwartz, author of the best-selling Start & Run Your Own Record Label and The Real Deal: How to Get Signed to a Record Label (Billboard Books), continues her 3-month Indie Music National Book Tour in Philadelphia. She will share some of the lessons in her latest book, I Don't Need a Record Deal! Your Survival Guide for the Indie Music Revolution, on November 21st at Borders, 1 South Broad, at 2 PM. She will also address students at the University of the Arts on November 22nd.
Schwartz has taken her Indie Music National Book Tour on the road from September through November to teach musicians how to empower themselves. She will educate them about the many available resources and opportunities to develop a career in music that will sustain, with or without a record deal, and to bring more attention to the superb music that's being released independently. She is driving from NYC across the country and back to 30 + markets - solo - speaking at colleges, music industry organizations and bookstores along the way.
Dubbed the Indie Music Guru," Schwartz is one of the few women to reach her respected level in the music business. She's often the only female speaker at a music conference and receives many letters from women who consider her a role model. Schwartz, who also writes personal growth books, is in the media regularly, including appearances on Oprah, Inside Edition and Howard Stern and top publications. She was recently quoted in the Sunday NY Times and has done dozens of interviews since June, including a profile on CelebrityAccess.com.
A major strength of I Don't Need a Record Deal" is Schwartz's ability to effortlessly switch the tone of the book from a cheerleader/motivational to beer buddy blunt honesty . . . For musicians brave enough to do something with their career other than playing to the same 20 drunken friends on a Wednesday night I Don't Need a Record Deal!" is a must read." --Ear Candy magazine
Veteran music business guru Daylle Deanna Schwartz has written a survival guide for the indie musician struggling in today's tumultuous music business." --Music Connection magazine
Schwartz got her music industry start while teaching school and accepting a dare from students who said that a white woman couldn't rap. Nicknamed Rappin' Teach," Schwartz started her own label and proved them wrong. She now focuses on empowering artists to develop themselves and stop being desperate for a record deal. Her fans are inspired that Schwartz put this tour together the independent way. She has volunteer street teams as her army in most markets to help her spread the word - ammo for being victorious in today's indie music revolution
