Oct. 19-23 DAVE WECKL BAND
Comprised of four top musicians, including Weckl (drums), Steve Weingart (keyboards), Tom Kennedy (bass) and Gary Meek (saxophones), the Dave Weckl Band brings wide-ranging musical credits and an exciting, intricate and diverse fusion of jazz, rock, funk and world music to town. Weckl's current tour is in support of his recent Stretch Records release, entitled “Multiplicity." This is fitting, as the record and the live shows leave plenty of room for each musician to stretch out. Weckl, who was named by Modern Drummer magazine as one of the 25 best drummers of all time, is finding “multiplicity" in his audience, as well. “What we really are is a jam band rooted in jazz," Weckl points out. “This is attracting a younger crowd that is interested in crossing over to contemporary jazz." The band plans on playing a mix of songs from “Multiplicity" plus older favorites from the band's “Rhythm of the Soul," “Synergy," “Transition" and “Perpetual Motion" recordings.
