Dan Weiss—Drums
Miles Okazaki—Guitar

Dan Weiss is one of the most innovative and sought-after drummers in the current jazz scene, having proved indispensable to David Binney's Balance, Joel Harrison's Free Country, Pete Robbin's Centric, Rudresh Mahanthappa's Indo-Pak Coalition and Quartet, Miles Okazaki's Generations group and numerous others. Dan also has a growing list of accomplishments as a leader, including his trio endeavors with pianist Jacob Sacks and bassist Thomas Morgan, which have been documented on their 2006 debut Now Yes When and the 2010 Sunnyside release Timshel. Jazz Gallery audiences will also know Dan from his unique duo performances with Jason Lindner and Ari Hoenig.

In addition to his work in jazz, heavy metal and other genres, Dan has studied table extensively with Pandit Samir Chatterjee, and has now followed up his 2005 release Tintal Drum set Solo with the equally stunning Jhaptal Drum set Solo. These releases highlight a deep study of Indian rhythmic traditions and reveal an innovator's mind at work, as Dan transplants classical Indian rhythmic concepts to the drum set, a practice that has begun to inform his work in a wide variety of others musical contexts. Join us for an incredible night of music!
