Daisy Jopling, The Pied Fiddler of Peekskill, Returns to the Paramount Center for the Arts

May 19th at 8:00pm

Peekskill NY: For over two decades, Internationally Acclaimed Classical/ Rock Violinist Daisy Jopling has been wowing audiences and transforming the music palates of people of all ages with her high energy fusion of classical music with world music and rock. Last year, her concert at the Paramount Center for the Arts in Peekskill received a full house standing ovation.

On Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 8pm, Daisy Jopling returns to Peekskill Paramount Center for the Arts to perform with her band. Jopling will perform music from her new CD – the first ever recorded album of the Daisy Jopling Band. Daisy will also share the stage with many of Hudson Valley’s extraordinarily talented emerging stars from her highly praised concert at the Paramount in March 2011 as well as some surprise guests. Tickets are on sale now for $25 and $35. For $50, a special meet and greet with the artist after the show is included. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Paramount at 1008 Brown Street, Peekskill, NY during normal business hours or online at www.paramountcenter.org .

Thanks to all of her supporters who helped her reach her Kickstarter project goal of $20,000, Jopling began recording her first album with her band in March. Band musicians include Daniel Mintseris on piano/keyboards, Ben Zwerin on bass/producer, and Doug Yowell on drums.

The music for the CD is comprised of modern arrangements of great classical pieces, and originals by Daisy Jopling, Brian Taylor and Ben Zwerin. The arrangers include David Majzlin, Daniel Mintseris, Brian Taylor and Tristan Schulze. Ben Zwerin, the band’s bassist, is producer of the album. Jowan Gauthier, an extraordinary photographer and designer, will be creating the album artwork.

Their intent with this album is to forge a new path ahead for classical music: keeping it fresh, creative and innovative, while not losing the virtuosic, intellectual and spiritual prowess of these great composers.

According to Daisy, “I was brought up with classical music, and it has an eternal place in my heart. Yet I want to communicate on a deep emotional level with people who have never heard it. I am a classical musician finding my own creative voice. And I am so honored and privileged to be working with my band, talented musicians who are ready to throw themselves into a new musical world!”

The young gifted performers Daisy will showcase include: The Hendrick Hudson High School all girls choral group, the Treble Makers; tap dancer/musician/actor Marcus Carl Franklin; Dance Expression of Westchester; stage performer/singer Gabrielle Sansone; and guitarist Mark McIntyre from Yorktown HS.

“As a Peekskill resident, I want to share my love of music, spotlight some of our best up-and-coming talent, and give something back to the local community,” said Daisy.

Jopling has toured worldwide with the creative string trio “Triology,” with whom she has recorded four CDS, two with BMG RCA Victor ( www.triology.cc ) and arranged and recorded the music of Hans Zimmer in Hollywood, for films “Spanglish” and “The Road to El Dorado”. She has performed at the opening of the Vienna Festival before 30,000 people, and is now creating her own show “Daisy Jopling's World on a String." The Daisy Jopling Band is touring 2012/2013 in: China, Japan, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Turkey, Sweden, Norway, Italy and Mexico.
