November 2004 will see the release of “Cuban Fishes Make Good Dishes" by Random Chance Records. The album is a collaboration between Amsterdam-based jazz flautist Mark Lotz and the Afro-Cuban singing group Shango's Dance. Recorded in Havana and Amsterdam, the CD could be succinctly called “Santeria meets Eurojazz."
Multi-layered percussion, vocals and a jazz quartet combine to produce music that is both traditional and inventive. Especially of note are the tracks “Hueso's Groove." featuring Cuban great Hueso Linares and the Indian music influenced “Raga Columbiana."
