Creole Restaurant and Music Supper Club continues to raise artistic and showcase standards while invigorating the Harlem Jazz scene and proudly presenting the Latin Jazz Legacy Series – featuring the top artists in the Latin Jazz genre – and kicking off with the Chembo Corniel Latin Jazz Quintet – Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11, 8:00 and 10:00 PM at Creole, 2167 Third Avenue, Corner of 118th Street, NY, NY 10035. Latin rhythms with Jazz roots reflect Chembo’s complex technique, style, and wealth of knowledge in the folkloric, Latin and jazz idioms. He is considered as one of the best hard-hitting, versatile percussionists around – “a sprinkling of be-bop, a touch of swing with a dollop of bomba, rumba, tango and danzn topped with ‘un chin’ de charanga.” Featuring Chembo Corniel (percussion), Ivan Renta (tenor sax), Elio Villafranca (piano), Carlo Derosa (acoustic bass), Vince Cherico (drums). CD Release Party.

Creole is known for its bright management, quality food and music and for bringing Jazz and R&B back uptown. Located in the heart of East Harlem, its ambiance is reminiscent of the nostalgic era of jazz supper clubs that spawned careers of countless jazz and blues artists who went on to make history. At Creole, one is immediately comforted by warmth and hospitality, as well as international cuisine, which features dishes such as blackened spice catfish, sweet potato beignets, and 20 variations of classic gumbo. Proprietor Kevin Walters prides himself on this unique environment that marries art, music, culture, entertainment, food and a sense of community in one location.

Please join us for the happening sounds of Latin Jazz Legacy Series at Creole – featuring Chembo Corniel’s Latin Jazz Quintet.
