CORNELIA STREET ARTISTS SALON THIS THURSDAY AT 6PM

As many of you know, on the first Thursday of every month artists of all shapes and sizes foregather downstairs at Cornelia Street to schmooze, hoist a glass of quelque chose (the only kind of chose to hoist) and re-invent the world. There are various purported reasons for this monthly get together: to acknowledge in the frantic bustle of this city and our frenetic lives that we do in fact constitute a community; to rub shoulders with other toilers in the vineyard, peer over and see what they're up to; to bemoan or celebrate our outcast fate. But one pretty damn good reason is to let down our collective hair and have fun. At one point somebody who has a performance coming up does a little preview. This month we're likely to have 2: Jed Distler who is the mastermind behind the Composers Collaborative, which presents a gallimaufray of gambols here on the second Monday of every month, will present some of the wild work he is doing with musical portraits by Virgil Thompson. And Canadian jazz violist and violinist Tanya Kalmanovitch together with bassist Lindsey Horner and guitarist Rob Thomas will preview a few minutes of their Bartok project (coming March 2nd). As usual there will be the occasional hors d'oeuvre (on us) and our lovely bar (on you). Everybody--past, present, or aspiring--is welcome. You may forward this little missive to anyone whose presence you think will enlarge our collective vision. Do come! xxx R Robin Hirsch, Minister of Culture/Wine Czar Cornelia Street Cafe
