“Finding an Hispanic-American singer who is worthwhile in these apocalyptic times is like finding a needle in a haystack. This is why we are grateful for Corina Bartra, an exceptional singer from Peru" --Latin Beat Magazine

Corina Bartra, a NYC-based, widley-acclaimed, Peruvian-born vocalist, composer and percussionist, is a pioneer of Afro-Peruvian jazz with a tinge of avant-garde. Corina Bartra has performed her music in Brazil, Peru and around the US. For her Open Center performance she and her highly accomplished ensemble will play works form her new CD, Bambu Sun, a unique blend of jazz, traditional Peruvian song, African rhythms and other Latin undercurrents.

Don't miss this deeply gifted, groundbreaking, exotic musical explorer as she brings entirely new dimensions to rich Afro-Peruvian rhythms, such as the “festjo", “lando", and “ marinera".

Note: Please join us for refreshments in the reception area at 7PM.

This event is co-sponsored by the Peruvian Consulate.
