Columbus Jazz Orchestra Goes Wild In Ninth Season Of Jazzoo!

Columbus, OH – This summer, the Jazz Arts Group will take jazz to a wilder place as the Columbus Jazz Orchestra takes center stage at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for the ninth season of JazZoo!

The four-concert series returns to the Water’s Edge Events Park at the Columbus Zoo providing a beautiful waterfront setting along the O’Shaughnessy Reservoir. Gates open at 6:30 PM with concerts beginning at 8 PM.

Friday, July 11 – “Smooth ’70s: Bacharach, Rawls & Beyond” featuring Dwight Lenox From “What the World Needs Now is Love” to “You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine,” the CJO celebrates the timeless works of these songwriting masters and purveyors of cool. Dwight Lenox lends his smooth vocal talents to kick off the season under the stars!

Friday, July 18 – “Basie, Buddy & Benny” featuring Dave Bennett & Butch Miles Join Byron and company as we celebrate the three Bs of jazz! As the drummer for the world-famous Count Basie Orchestra and Mel Tormé, Butch Miles quickly became renowned for his swinging big band style and fiery techniques. Michigan clarinetist Dave Bennett is an authentic musical prodigy who brings to life the classic sound and music of Benny Goodman with incredible technique, style, beauty of tone, and naturalness.

Friday, August 8 – “Ragtime, Blues & All That Jazz” featuring Helen Welch “Ragtime, Blues & All That Jazz" travels through ragtime masters Scott Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton, blues legends B.B. King and Eddie “Cleanhead" Vinson, and wraps up with the ever-charming Helen Welch. With entertaining vignettes about the music and its creators, plus a finale that closes out with an unforgettable, toe-tapping jam session, this high-energy show is not to be missed!

Friday, August 15 – “Elton John, Billy Joel & Some Rock ‘n’ Roll” featuring Dave Powers You’ll all be in the mood for a melody when the CJO pays tribute to your favorite piano men and classic rock legends! The keyboard wizardry of Dave Powers joins the CJO on timeless classics like “Your Song,” “Just the Way You Are,” “Only the Good Die Young,” and much more!

Ticket prices (includes zoo admission and concert, parking is $8 per car for all but zoo members):

Adult single: $30 (advance)/$35 (day of)
Adult single: $25 (advance)/$35 (day of) for CJO subscribers/Columbus Zoo members
Student single: $20 with ID
Adult concert series: $99 per person (through June 13)
Adult concert series: $109 per person (after June 13)
Single concert corporate table of 8: $350 (does not include food)
Concert series corporate table of 8: $1,200 (does not include food)
