Blues Alley, nestled in Washington,DC's trendy Georgetown community,is the nation' oldest continuing jazz supper club,and will be the venue for Washington-based ensemble Collaboration to celebrate the release of “Because Of You". Two shows are scheduled at 8 and 10 p.m. Gifted, vibrant, and soulful -Collaboration demonstrates that Washington, DC is home to some of the finest music makers. Their new offering is an outstanding presentation of jazz, neo-soul and inspirational tunes, and is causing quite a positive buzz. Highlights of this 10 track gem include “My Funny Valentine", “The Colors of Fall", “In Walked He", and the title track,"Because of You". Band members- founder and drummer Kenneth Dickerson, bassist Yusef Chisolm, saxophonist Tracy Cutler, guitarist Lee Edgecomb, keyboardist Glenn Douglas, and vocalist Lori Williams, quickly acknowledge that they stand on the shoulders of musical giants, and work to preserve the integrity and excellence of the music that has so inspired them. In recent years, Collaboration has developed a very loyal East Coast and Mid-West following. The group has performed for noted national and local organizations, and has opened for some of the greatest names in the music industry, including Peabo Bryson, The Manhattans, Pieces of a Dream, Lee Ritenour, Stanley Turrentine, Miles Jaye, and the incomparable, late Phyllis Hyman.
