A SPOT OF HOLIDAY CHEER THAT'LL SPIN YO' DREIDEL

Elizabeth & The Catapult
by Darcy Fowler

Not all holiday music sucks it sideways, and over the next couple weeks we'll spotlight a few nifty tidbits to brighten your solstice festivities. Our initial offering is “Christmas With The Jews" from Brooklyn's Elizabeth & The Catapult, a swell pop group that swings with bright charms aplenty. On the heels of a well-received EP, the group is currently recording their Verve Records debut due next year. In the meantime, we can sort our dairy from our meats to their new contribution to the holiday canon.

Listen to “Christmas With The Jews" over here.

To hear more from Elizabeth & The Catapult visit their MySpace page. We recommend you check out “Race You" and tell us it isn't the sister to “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard." And the other cuts offered up are pretty neat, too.

Tour Dates
Dec 27 - Washington DC at DC9
Dec 29 - Easton MD at Coffee East
Jan 22 - Hoboken NJ at Maxwells

Enjoy the band's pleasantly woozy cover of The Beatles' “I'm So Tired" from WFMU radio.
