As an instrument, Courtin's voice draws comparisons to those of '60s icons like Janis Joplin, Terry Reid and Robert Plant. Yet Courtin's era-defying music would be misrepresented with a term like “rock." Together with her band The Running Kicks--guitarist Kyle Sanna and percussionist Mathias Kunzli--Julliard-trained Courtin blends blues, soul and rock with elements of jazz and classical to deliver an intense live experience. On stage, the three musicians fit each other puzzle pieces. Courtin describes their chemistry as “a constant unspoken dialogue." The group's improvisatory style and Courtin's spotlight-grabbing stage presence combined to mesmerize audiences across Manhattan throughout 2005. They are selling out everywhere they go, so we suggest you be at The Stone early!
