Kansas City USA -- 'ASR RECORDS RECORDING ARTIST, CHRIS BURNETT, and his jazz ensemble, Chris Burnett QUARTET, will perform on Friday, October 8, 2004 during the two-day, 4th Annual Wine and Jazz Festival held each year at the Elms Resort and Spa in Excelsior Springs, MO. The Chris Burnett QUARTET performance on Friday, October 8, 2004, will feature several interesting original compositions, along with arrangements of familiar jazz repertoire by the award winning composer and the band's leader, Chris Burnett. In addition to Burnett performing on alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, clarinet and flute in the ensemble, the group membership also includes several of Kansas City's most noted musicians. Roger Wilder is the group's pianist; Seth Lee holds down the bass chair; and Donivan Bailey rounds out the quartet as percussionist.
Mr. Burnett began his professional performing career as a member of US military jazz bands and returned home to his native Kansas City area to perform in 2001. He has performed thousands of engagements worldwide and even appeared on Italian television while a member of the special NATO Band based at Naples, Italy. Chris Burnett QUARTET debuted at the 2002 Roots Festival held at Paola, Kansas; and, was the opening act for trumpet legend, Maynard Ferguson's, recent performance in Kansas City. Burnett has one commercially released CD on the market, and the group is currently preparing music for a new CD.
Mr. Burnett signed as a recording artist with 'ASR RECORDS in 2002 and also serves as a staff writer for the label as well. Label co-founder and Kansas City Jazz Master, Ahmad Alaadeen states: “Chris is truly an emerging performing and recording artist on the jazz music scene today. He is the total package, a mature musician, and definitely one to watch on alto sax!" The 4th Annual Wine and Jazz Festival features numerous vintners and various wines from around the country along with great jazz music.
