Mid-November will erupt in music with the 22nd Cape May Jazz Festival, November 12-14 in Cape May, New Jersey. The Festival kicks off at 7:30pm Friday and continues with nonstop entertainment through Sunday afternoon. Opening the Festival Friday night is a celebration of the Count Basie Centennial with Kendrick Oliver & The New Life Jazz Orchestra featuring vocalist Marlena Shaw, channeling The Count's hard-driving sense of swing with their delivery of Basie and Beyond.
Lauded Detroit jazz violin dynamo Regina Carter brings her technical proficiency and exciting improvisation to Convention Hall Saturday night. Her unexpectedly percussive and aggressively melodic approach to her instrument will challenge your ideas about the violin.
