Boxing & Jazz Films to Debut in New York

Matthew Shipp will be presenting a Boxing & Jazz film called “Combinations" directed by Pat Gaucher (with live music performed by Shipp's piano trio with William Parker playing bass and Guillermo E. Brown on drums) at the Knitting Factory NYC on November 4, 2004 at 8pm & 10pm. The film was originally commissioned by the Walker Art Center, and this will be the NYC premiere.

In direct relation, a week later the Lincoln Center is presenting a different Boxing & Jazz film by Ken Burns. This one centers on heavyweight Jack Johnson with music scored by Wynton Marsalas.
