The Boston-Turkish Festival - Boston, MA Tower Auditorium - November 30, 2005
Internationally renowned and award winning recording artist, Fahir Atakoglu will be a featured performer at the Tenth Annual Boston-Turkish Festival in Boston, Massachusetts on November 30th, 2005, at the Tower Auditorium on the Massachusetts College of The Arts Campus in Boston.
Pianist/Composer Atakoglu will be joined by legendary Bass Player Anthony Jackson (Paul Simon, Eye Witness, Michel Camilo,) and acclaimed Drummer Horacio “El Negro" Hernandez (McCoy Tyner, Michel Camilo, Carlos Santana).
Mr. Atakoglu is a resident of the Washington D.C. metro area, however he is very much from Istanbul, Turkey. He is highly recognized in Turkey as well as all over Europe and Japan for his large symphonic works and film scores. Atakoglu, along with bassist Anthony Jackson (Chaka Kahn, Steely Dan, Al Di Meola, Chick Corea, John Scofield), and Drummer Horacio “El Negro" Hernandez (Roy Hargrove, Michael Brecker, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, The Dizzy Gillespie United Nations All-Star Orchestra, John Pattitucci, Arturo O'Farrell), are currently releasing their debut recording as a trio entitled “IF" and marketing it to the Jazz and World Markets. The CD “IF" with Fahir Atakoglu, Anthony Jackson and Horacio “El Negro" Hernandez blends the Turkish flavor of Modern Istanbul with the Americas: Anthony Jackson's soulful bass and precise “walks" and the virtuosity of Horacio “El Negro" Hernandez' ambidextrous Latin rhythms highlight Fahir's sensitivity as a composer. When Fahir Atakoglu performs, he deeply moves his audiences while his unique rhythmic melodies and harmonies electrify the total ambiance of the sold out concert halls and stages where he has played not only in Turkey and Japan, but all over Europe. Following his first album in 1994, Fahir Atakoglu has released 8 albums in 17 countries including the USA and he has sold over 2 million copies since. The Trio is planning an upcoming national tour to support the release of “IF" in February 2006.
