This concert is a rehearsal of sorts in preparation for my next tzadik recording. In the last ten years i have reorded more than 20 cds as leader or co leader for other companies... Borah Bergman

One of the most original and creative pianists in jazz and contemporary music, Borah Bergman is described by Down Beat Magazine as having the hands of “an eccentric genius." Completely ambidextrous he originally was inspired to develop it by hearing Paul Wittgenstein, the one handed (left) pianist. Ravel composed a concerto for him. Bergman improvises horn-like lines with both hands, sometimes crossed, in a contrapuntal and polyphonic, multi-layered dialogue that allows pieces to be turned upside down, without the loss of rhythmic intensity or aesthetic shape. He calls his concept “ambi-ideation". Possessing a prodigious technique Bergman says, “The musical ideas were always in my brain before I had it; all that developing the technique did was to enable me to get the ideas onto the keyboard." Borah Bergman has performed and recorded as leader and co leader with such greats as Roscoe Mitchell, Anthony Braxton, Andrew Cyrille, Oliver Lake among many others.
