DIG THE STRING-BENDING BRILLIANCE OF GEORGE BENSON
THIS WEEKEND ON FREEDOM JAZZ DANCE.

5 - 7 PM Sunday
WDCE 90.1 FM
Listen via streamcast at www.wdce.org
804-289-UR90 Studio

Tune in to Freedom Jazz Dance--modern jazz from bebop to freebop and beyond--this Sunday on 90.1 FM WDCE wdce.org, live from the beautiful campus of the University of Richmond.

This week, I'll be featuring the string-bending brilliance of Pittsburgh's own George Benson, whose later pop-flavored hits overshadowed the fact that he's been payin' his dues to the jazz gods for decades. I'll also be spinning selections from the unsung sax-ophonist Tina Brooks, more Lee Konitz (why the hell not?) and more Eliane Elias (why the hell not?).

Feel free to call in at 804-289-UR90 to give your trash-or-treasure vote during my notorious Records From Aunt Ruth segment and compare jazz compositions during the FJD exclusive Two Of A Kind segment.

Well, last week's show was awesome. But I've been too busy to upload it yet. In the meantime, though, you can listen to the show two weeks ago featuring Hugh Masekela. It's pretty darn good as well. Just click on freedomjazzdance.net. To listen, just click on the radio blog file. While you're there, drop me a message. I'd love to hear your take on new releases, cool gigs and your favorite players.
