EG KIGHT APPEARS AT BOURBON STREET BLUES & BOOGIE BAR

Five-time Handy nominee singer/songwriter EG Kight will be appearing at the Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar in Nashville on Monday, July 11th. Showtime is scheduled for 9 pm.

The “Georgia Songbird” and her band will entertain the audience with her trademark blend of blues-jazz-gospel-country and southern rock. EG will belt out some of her old tunes and flavor the show with new songs from her current CD, Takin’ It Easy. EG was a W.C. Handy Award nominee in the Best Contemporary Female Blues Artist category. Kight’s prior release, Southern Comfort garnered three W.C. Handy nominations in 2004.

EG’s musical roots are deep in the Nashville area. She teamed up with songwriter Richard Fleming in the nineties and began composing a series of successful tunes. EG’s song “No Time for the Blues”, from her Southern Comfort release was a collaborative effort between Kight, and Nashville’s Fleming and Karen Leipziger.

EG Kight is a powerhouse blues performer with tremendous style. Her songs are exciting, comforting and exceptionally polished. This artist pours her soul into every note she sings, struts her vocals with confidence, and brings you to your knees with the smokiest of lyrics.

Originally a country music singer, this performer graced the stages of Nashville in her teenage years and her introduction to blues music via the great Koko Taylor only heightened her natural creative talents. The broad appeal of Kight’s music has encouraged pairings with a diverse palate of notables such as Phoebe Snow, Little Feat, Merle Haggard, Delbert McClinton and Taj Mahal to mention a few.

EG’s refreshing twist on blues music is earthy as well as explosive. Her native background in country and gospel music has allowed this singer and songwriter from Dublin, Georgia to pen some of the most original and beautiful songs. EG was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, ISC, for her song “Let the Healing Begin” from her Trouble CD. EG’s song, Nothin’ Ever Hurt Me” captured a 2005 W.C. Handy nomination for Song of the Year.

EG Kight’s performances evoke encores and ovations from audiences everywhere.
