The Kaufman Center presents Blues, Grass and Spirit––a celebration at Merkin Concert Hall of the female pioneers who helped shape the musical traditions of blues, bluegrass and gospel music. Over three unique concerts during Women’s History month in March 2005, Blues, Grass and Spirit will pay soulful homage to musical legends such as Memphis Minnie and Sippie Wallace, Maybelle Carter and Rose Maddox and Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Clara Ward—recognizing them both as artists and as women leaders in their respective fields whose legacies continue to inspire new generations of musicians.
