Blue Note Records celebrates Count Basie's 100th birthday with the August 24 release of two 2-cd sets honoring one of the greatest bandleaders in the history of Jazz.

In 1960, the Basie band celebrated its silver anniversary by making a double-album of it's classics from the 30s and 40s in the glorious state- of-the-art fidelity with which producer Teddy Reig was then recording the band for Roulette Records at Capitol's New York studio.
Count Basie & Friends: 100th Birthday Bash
A 100th birthday bash for Basie that plays like a jam session from heaven, this collection gathers recordings made between 1957-62 featuring such notable friends as Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, Billy Eckstine, Ben Webster, Illinois Jacquet, Eddie “Lockjaw" Davis, Harry “Sweets" Edison, and Lambert, Hendricks & Ross.
