Best Place To See Jazz In Vegas

Jazz joints come and go in Vegas. There are casino rooms and clubs that offer jazz, but there's so much gaming going on, it's hard to enjoy live jazz as an art form. The sound of the slots and people excited by their winnings take away from the experience of enjoying the music. Even most smaller venues and bars have gaming, and musicians & jazz fans alike agree it's not the best jazz environment.

Now comes The Freakin' Frog (Freakin' Music & Freakin' Jazz)—a sometimes college bar— sometimes jazz joint— sometimes stage for Vegas show cast parties—that has all the ambiance of the places you remember from NY, Chicago and San Francisco. An informal hang, The Freakin' Frog has been around for a while, and has always supported the jazz scene. It's a specialized beer cafe, offering a huge selection of the finest beers from around the world (15 beers on tap, and 1000 in the cooler). And upstairs, the treasured Whiskey Attic, has an amazing (600) collection of Whiskeys, many rare and hard to find.

The crowd is eclectic, with a huge UNLV following. A friendly atmosphere, awesome bar food, and a popular, comfortable hangout for the jazz crowd, college kids, the business crowd, academia, musicians and performers.

Next time you're in Vegas, check the jazz schedule at the Freakin' Frog. They have an All-Star Jazz Jam every Tuesday evening where top players get a chance to jam with their peers, and jazz fans hang out. Additionally, they typically offer 2-3 live jazz performances per week.
