Underwood has been climbing the jazz charts weekly on jazzweek charting system. Her debut release “Underwood Uncurling,” has officially gone chartbound. Belinda is garnering critical acclaim not only for her seductive vocal styling, but also for her ability as a stellar composer and bassist. A student of The Jazz School, Alumnus Underwood will be returning for a concert highlighting nationally recognized selections from “Underwood Uncurling”. At the Jazz School, Belinda studied with Mark Levine, Ledisi, Raz Kennedy, Stephanie Bruce, Brian Pardo, Glenn Richman, and Frank Martin. Her debut album Underwood Uncurling” features fresh renditions of soulful jazz standards and six of Belinda’s deeply revealing jazz originals. Underwood displays her ability to draw you in with raw, unfiltered feelings, hypnotic vocals and frank emotional lyrics. At a vibrant 29, Belinda is also a highly accomplished upright bassist. Her precision and improvisation as a bassist carries over into her vocal phrasing and delivery, adding up to the full package as a jazz musician.
Underwood will be back by seasoned veterans, John Wiitala (Bass), Jason Levis (Drums), and Leonard Thompson (Piano). Do not miss this compelling songstress/bassist for a night of exploration into higher enlightenment.
