THE TOWN HALL PRESENTS GRAMMY-NOMINATED SINGER AND SONGWRITER BEBEL GILBERTO - FRIDAY, JUNE 19 AT 8PM

The Town Hall (Lawrence Zucker, Artistic and Executive Director), Times Squares landmark concert venue, is pleased to present Grammy-nominated Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto on Friday, June 19 at 8PM. Tickets are on sale now for $50 and $45. All tickets for The Town Hall shows are available through Ticketmaster, 212-307-4100, or www.ticketmaster.com, or by visiting The Town Hall Box Office (123 West 43rd Street) between noon and 6PM (except Sundays) at 123 West 43rd Street, 212-840-2824.

Bebel Gilberto, the daughter of famous Brazilian guitarist Joo Gilberto and singer Micha, has garnered raves for her partnerships with David Byrne, Amon Tobin, Smoke City, the Thievery Corporation, Towa Tei, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, as well as her father. Bebel has also enjoyed worldwide success as a songwriter with the international hits “Batucada" and “Technova," which appeared on the hit F/X show Nip/Tuck.

Now, following the success of her albums Tanto Tempo and Momento and two Latin Grammy nominations, Bebel Gilberto returns to The Town Hall stage by popular demand. Bebel will be showcasing her breezy bossa nova with hints of Latin tones and electronic flourishes, accompanied by her long-time collaborator on acoustic guitars Masa Shimizu, Didi Gutman from the Brazilian Girls on keys and Magrus Borges on the drums.

Bebel Gilberto is part of The Town Hall Presents 2009 season that featured such highlights as Mariza, Natalie MacMaster, Johnny Pacheco, Andrea Marcovicci, Tangos Romular Ensemble and the hit series Broadway By The Year.

Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public forum for debates. Over the decades, the stage has been graced by Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis. Today the hall flourishes as a popular, affordable venue, boasting the hottest acts in rock, pop, folk, cabaret, world music, comedy and dance, including Billy Joel, Blondie, Elvis Costello, Natalie Merchant, Graham Nash, Liza Minnelli, Cyndi Lauper, Norah Jones, Andre Watts, Henry Rollins, Joe Jackson, Pink Martini, Regina Spector, Brian Adams, Aimee Mann and Dawn Upshaw. For over a decade, The Town Hall has hosted live broadcasts of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, The Town Hall has produced a number of new and critically acclaimed musical series, which include The Century of Change, Not Just Jazz, Broadway By The Year and The Broadway Cabaret Festival.

All tickets for The Town Hall shows are available through TicketMaster, 212-307-4100, or www.ticketmaster.com, or by visiting The Town Hall Box Office between noon and 6 PM (except Sundays) at 123 West 43rd Street, 212-840-2824. For more information, visit www.the-townhall-nyc.org.
