BRIC Studio's final installment of its 2003-2004 season will be its final Ample Sample, curated by Michelle Moscowitz Brown, presented on Friday and Saturday May 21 and 22 at 8 PM. Featured on the program will be Olivier Conan's Bebe Eiffel, about which the Village Voice said “C'est magnifique!" Tickets are $10.00 ($8.00 for students, and TDF vouchers accepted). BRIC Studio is at 57 Rockwell Place, off Fulton Street, around the corner from the BAM Harvey Theater in Brooklyn. Nearby subway stops are the IRT Nevins Street and the DeKalb Avenue BMT lines (N, R, W, D). BEBE EIFFEL, Brooklyn's own French combo, serves a blend of Cumbia, Paso Doble, Manic Swing and Salvation Army-style Mambo - mostly sung in French with an occasional English outburst. The material is made up of mostly original music with the occasional re-interpretation of such classics as Eric Satie's Gnosienne or Joe Dassin's l'ete indien and some lyrics borrowed from surrealists poets Raymond Queneau and Robert Desnos. The band is made up of Olivier Conan (Cuatro, Banjo and Vocals), Vincent Douglas +(guitar) Michael Attias on Alto and Baritone Sax (Anthony Braxton, Anthony Coleman and many other Anthonies in between); Greg Burrows on Drums (Allessandra Belloni, Medeski, Martin & Wood); Josh Camp on Piano and Accordion (One Ring Zero); Allyssa Lamb on Vocals, Glockenspiel and Melodica (Bill Schimmel, Las Rubias del Norte) and Taylor B.Chrisman on Double Bass (Golem.)
