AAJ's Martin Gladu to Speak at Concordia University

AAJ Section Editor and contributor Martin Gladu will speak at the 2007 edition of the “Careers In Music" panel discussion event held at Montreal's Concordia University.

Other panelists are:

The “Careers In Music" event aims at connecting industry professionals with students to have them get a better understanding of their employment options upon graduation.

About Martin Gladu


Martin Gladu is a guitarist, composer and music consultant. He graduated with High Distinction from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Concerned with building a reputation as a versatile musician, he favours varying genres and settings. He has played and/or studied with Remi Bolduc, Mike Stern, Jerry Coker, Andre Leroux, Michel Cusson, Guy Boisvert, the McGill Jazz Big Band, the Collge Marie-Victorin Stage Band, Kevin Dean, Jan Jarczyk, Steve Amirault, Greg Amirault, Pierre Cote, Ken Slone, Scott Henderson among others. He led his own jazz trio and duo sporadically in the late 90's while teaching guitar and bass in C.E.G.E.P., in private schools as well as privately.

An interest in music publishing brought him to SODRAC in 2000. There, he licensed countless CRIA-certified albums and developed expertise in publishing catalogue administration, copyright clearance and royalty recovery. His dedication and experience at recovering unpaid royalties has benefitted a large number of writers and publishers: the Jacques Brel Estate, the Flix Leclerc Estate, Glenn Danzing/Evilive Music (for Metallica), the Georges Brassens Estate, Nana Mouskouri, ABBA, ECM Records Musikverlag, the Antonio Carlos Jobim Estate, Honey B Sarl (for Carlos Santana), Eros Ramazzotti, Matt DeMatteo (for Mobile), Murlyn/Universal Music Publ. AB, Avalanche Music Publ. among many others.

More, he occasionally consults independent artists and labels on diverse issues, tailoring his approach based on their needs. Since 2006, he is also Section Editor and contributor for All About Jazz, the world's largest jazz website.
