4th annual Philips Dubai International Jazz Festival 2006
Chillout Productions, the founder and organizer of the Philips Dubai International Jazz Festival will once again take the lead on providing the best compilation of International Artists live at the Dubai Media City.
The concept of Much More Than Jazz will be much more transparent in 2006 with performers such as Roger Hodgson - the original singer, and songwriter of the renowned classic rock band Supertramp. Hodgson will be performing evergreen repertoire such as “Give a little Bit”, “The logical Song”, “Dreamer” and “Breakfast in America” on the opening night of the festival, that is due to take place on February 8th – 10th, 2006.
The Legendary Diva Randy Crawford, will smooth the crowd on the second night with her soulful voice with hits like “Street Life”, “Rainy Night in Georgia” and “Almaz”. Crawford has traversed a musical spectrum that ranges from jazz and soul, to R&B and pop and has won countless fans around the globe.
The remarkable band Kool & the Gang will be the finale act of the 4th Philips Dubai International Jazz Festival, with enlightening hits such as “Ladies Night”, “Celebration”, “Cherish” and “Jungle Boogie”. Kool & The Gang, the group with a sound that has influenced the music of three generations. Their ticket to longevity has been the evolution of their music.
These well-recognized artists heads strong line up of other International jazz legends such as Jean-Luc Ponty, Chico Freeman, Hilton Ruiz, and many others due to be announced towards closer date of the event.
“Jazz is the main focus of the festival, and we are adding some pop, R&B, and classic rock flavours, so that there is something for everyone, thus the language of MUSIC for the cosmopolitan city of Dubai,” pointed out Anthony Younes, MD, Chillout Productions. “All three headline acts: Randy Crawford, Kool & the Gang and Supertramp were at the top of their music charts in their heydays and still are very big names in the music industry. This year’s festival will once again be held under the title sponsorship of Philips with presentation sponsorship from Cadillac, and the support of many other sponsors that throughout the past three years has grown tremendously.
