April 20, 2005--Philadelphia, PA, The Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation (OARC) will present the 2nd annual West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival on June 24, 25, 26 2005. The festival will take place outdoors between the 7100 and 7200 block of Ogontz Avenue and at several venues along Ogontz Avenue. In addition to 3 days of non-stop music on 4 outdoor stages, this year's festival will feature Roy Ayers, Sun Ra Arkestra, Odean Pope Saxophone Choir, Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, Dexter Wansel, Orrin Evans & Luv Park, Charles Fambrough, Khan Jamal and over 250 renowned musicians and poets including Sonia Sanchez. October Gallery will collaborate with the West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival to create a special art pavilion with over fifty fine artists. October Gallery hosts the Philadelphia International Art Expo, the largest African American Art Expo in the country, which attracts over forty-five thousand people each year.

The West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival is being produced once again by LifeLine Music Coalition, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and preserve jazz and the arts in Philadelphia. LifeLine Music Coalition, produced the first ever 3-day 2003 Philadelphia Jazz and Poetry Festival in September 2003 and on October 14, 2004 partnered with WRTI 90.1 FM to organize the Steinway Piano Jazz Jam for Peace (as part of a world tour) which hosted over 20 Philadelphia jazz bands.



The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) will provide a FREE trolley shuttle from the Independence Visitors Center at 6th and Arch Street, to and from the festival grounds (7100-7200 block Ogontz Avenue) throughout the day on Saturday, June 25, 2005.

Following the success of the first West Oak Lane Jazz & Arts Festival (June 2004) at 12 venues throughout West Oak Lane and 175 artist performances, OARC has been presenting a monthly cultural calendar of events in West Oak Lane since August 2004. Live music is performed monthly at the Ogontz Grill (7152 Ogontz Ave),; Wednesday urban soul hosted by J. Michael Harrison of WRTI; Thursday and Saturday Jazz and Friday night Live R&B. Every Thursday, Art Noir Gallery (7175 C Ogontz Avenue) hosts open mic poetry.

The Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corporation (OARC) is a non-profit, 501 C (3) community development corporation established by community residents and state Representative Dwight Evans in 1983. OARC's mission is to create and stimulate economic development and improve the quality of life in the West Oak Lane community.
