Each year, for the last twenty years, thousands of music lovers from throughout the region flock to Asbury Park in late June to enjoy one of New Jersey's most famous showcases of contemporary jazz -- The Asbury Park Jazz Festival. Located in scenic Sunset Park, this two-day outdoor music festival, which attracts music lovers from the tri-state area, is more than just a concert, it's an event! It's a place to people-watch, eat, drink, shop, mingle, relax, soak in the rays, and of course hear some of the world's finest contemporary jazz music performed by artists whom you won't see anywhere else in the area this summer. It's a must attend for serious and casual jazz aficionados
This year's festival will take place on June 28 & 29 and will present: GRP recording artist, trumpeter Tom Browne who won prestigious Billboard honors of Best Instrumentalist, Best Jazz Cross-over and Best Jazz Solo Album; Roy Ayers; Legendary keyboardist Lonnie Liston Smith who has performed with some of the biggest names in jazz history, including Art Blakey, Max Roach, Pharaoh Sanders, Miles Davis, Gato Barbieri and Stanley Clarke.
Roy Ayers, vibraphonist virtuoso, is one of the most respected and sampled artists in music history. He is a world renowned musician, producer who often collaborated with dozens of the most recognizable names in jazz, funk and acid jazz. Gospel music dominates the stage on Sunday featuring New Jersey's most famous choirs.
The 20th Annual Asbury Park Jazz festival is FREE and runs from noon until 7:00pm each day. Sunset Park is centrally located at the corner of Main Street and Sunset Park.
