2007 San Sebastian Jazz Festival

The 42nd Heineken Jazzaldia Jazz Festival will take July 24-29 in the beautiful city of San Sebastian, Spain.

Artists scheduled to appear include Pat Metheney, Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Elvis Costello, Richard Galliano, Bryan Ferry, Vienna Art Orchestra, Isaac Hayes, Gotan Project, Matthew Herbert Big Band, Sly & The Family Stone, Madeleine Peyroux, Neneh Cherry, Marcus Miller, Wayne Shorter, Brad Mehldau and Horace Andy are some of the names in the program. The recent opening of the Victoria Eugenia Theatre will add more venues to the Festival. Stacey Kent, Pedro Iturralde and Van Der Graaf Generator have already confirmed their shows at the Theatre. Victoria Eugenia Theatre and its club downstairs will be added to the Kursaal Auditorium, the Plaza de la Trinidad and the Kursaal Terraces to offer more than 70 concerts in only 6 days.

This year's edition of the Heineken Jazzaldia will have a unique characteristic under several coincidences. It will be a Festival of extraordinary associations: Pat Metheny with Brad Mehldau, Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint or Chick Corea together with Gary Burton are three wonderful examples. It will also be a Festival of singers: Elvis Costello, Bryan Ferry, Madeleine Peyroux, Stacey Kent, Neneh Cherry, Isaac Hayes, Horace Andy, Sly Stewart and Anne Hampton Callaway put together a great vocal program.

And this edition will introduce an interesting group of names that will guarantee surprises and new discoveries: Hadouk Trio, Bojan Z., David Walters, Rose, Cassius and the local groups that will be picked from a selection that is being held nowadays in different venues of the city. And finally the groups that will play on the Green Stage will be an attractive program full of variety in itself: Gotan Project, Skatalites, Horace Andy, Cirkus featuring Neneh Cherry and the Matthew Herbet Big Band will be among them.
