During the MidemNet panel hosted by marketer Virginie Berger of Don't Believe the Hype, Jeff Castalez of U.S. based indie Dangerbird declared, “Our company is not trying to make record deals.  We're making business deals.. Instead of expensive one to many marketing, we're now working to encourage advocacy." Later in the panel he shared, “We don't care about market-share and trade press. Lawsuits and the like are distractions. We care about building a few great bands."

Other highlights:

“We're all about creating a business around the artist." shared manager Emily White of Whitesmith Entertainment. “We're building the fanbase and revenue streets that can last a lifetime." One of her bands is throwing fan house parties to help finance their touring.

“What we've done is not out of some revolutionary desire to take down the man.  It was born out of necessity—a response to the current nature of the industry."—Mathieu Drouin, the manager of Metric.
