Viden Spassov
Viden Spassov, born in 1989, is an Italian double bassist originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, and currently based in Turin. Winner of the 2023 “Luca Flores” Award at the Barga Jazz Contest, he has been working at a high professional level for several years in classical, jazz, and contemporary music.
A versatile and eclectic musician, he has found the world of improvisation and cross-genre exploration the ideal context for self-expression, experimenting with sounds that go beyond traditional stylistic boundaries, moving across jazz, classical, avant-garde, rock, world music, and electronic music.
He has led and collaborated in several projects, performing concerts across Europe and worldwide, including tours in China, India, Norway, Albania, Spain, Georgia, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria.
In Italy, he has performed at major jazz festivals such as Torino Jazz Festival, Bergamo Jazz Festival, Moncalieri Jazz Festival, Fano by the Sea, Nuoro Jazz Festival, Novara Jazz Festival, Casa del Jazz in Rome, among others. Internationally, notable performances include Canal Street Festival in Norway, Jazz in Albania, and Sunset Sunside in Paris.
He has won several awards with his group Nugara Trio, which has received strong critical acclaim and audience recognition.
