The Slow Readers Club

The Slow Readers Club are Aaron Starkie (vocals) Kurtis Starkie (guitar) James Ryan (bass) and David Whitworth (drums).

They write anthemic, uplifting post punk alt-rock songs with addictive melodies, sing-along choruses and heartfelt lyrics.

The band have built a large, loyal following across the U.K. and Europe, having worked their way up from small venues to sold out shows and main stage festival slots.

They have grown largely through fan word of mouth, grass roots music blogs and champions in radio including Christine Hawkins, Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy. Their fan base continues to grow day by day which is testament not only to the quality of songs, but the intense live shows The Slow Readers Club put on.

The band have a top ten album to their name in ‘The Joy Of The Return’ and 3 other top 40 albums. They have honed their craft through several headline tours and they have supported acts including James, Pixies, Morrissey, The Charlatans, Shed 7, Catfish and The Bottlemen and Jesus and Mary Chain.

"Their sound is timeless and classic, so big and anthemic. Most of their songs are instant anthems, you can see them playing stadiums in the future" John Kennedy, Radio X

"The Slow Readers Club are quite simply too glorious to be kept a secret; see them, be seduced and then pass the pleasure on" Louderthanwar
