Sr. Langosta

Sr. Langosta is an amped-up, in-your face fusion band founded and lead by composer and guitar player Jorge Andres Ferreras, of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The groups musical approach begins with a deep root in the theory and format of instrumental jazz— all of the members being graduates of the jazz performance program of the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico— and brings in heavy influence of the styles and genres that made the members who they are today, namely; Afro-Caribbean percussion, psychedelic rock, funk, hip-hop, and others.

This group of Puerto Rican music graduates is certainly a dream team with regards to fusion, and while I’m sure Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton production is swell, I think there’s a greater product of that disenfranchised territory…and it’s called Sr. Langosta! - A. Leclair , Swept Media

The improvisational forays of avant-garde and the rich polyrhythms of Latin Jazz might seem of contradictory natures, but they have meeting points, and making those connections happen could be facilitated by the rich dynamism of psychedelic rock, which possessed a duality of wandering solos and structured rhythmic devices
