SoFaygo

SoFaygo, born Andre Dontrel Burt Jr., recorded his first song in the 4th grade. Teaching himself to record, mix, and master music in GarageBand is how he spent every afternoon since the 9th grade. As a creative who always believed he would be great, SoFaygo chose craft over college. Now, just a year after graduating from Etowah High School, the 19-year-old, Cobb County, Georgia rapper is accelerating toward a career-launching breakthrough after two mixtapes, both released in 2020, elevated him from Soundcloud obscurity to more than 3.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Angelic 7, produced entirely by multi-platinum teen idol Lil Tecca, was the first. “Knock Knock,” their debut record together, is SoFaygo’s biggest single to date with 52 million plays on Spotify and rising. After Me, the project that came next, features eight songs that showcase the ear candy flows and charismatic cadences he’s been developing since his senior year. “Off The Map,” a single that has 15 million plays on both Soundcloud and Spotify, and more than 3 million YouTube views on the music video. All without a major label. Born in 2001, SoFaygo cites Chief Keef, Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug, Chris Brown, Usher, and Drake as the melodic artists who inspired him to create a versatile style of music-making he describes as “wavy.” Able to make waves in any genre, from Rap to Rock or R&B. With a loyal fanbase and famed rappers Lil Yachty, Trippie Redd, and Travis Scott all paying attention now, SoFaygo feels like he’s knocking on the door to stardom, but instead of waiting for someone to answer, he’s ready to, “Kick that bitch down.”
