Seungmin Jung
Seungmin Jung is a rising star in the jazz world, and his dedication and passion for his craft will undoubtedly continue to take him to new heights. He has a natural ability to connect with his audience through his music, and his love for what he does shines through every note he plays.
He is New York based jazz musician who came from Seoul, Korea. He was born in 1996, and his love for music started at a young age. At 17 years old, he began his musical journey with the electric bass, and later bought a double bass on a whim. This purchase turned out to be a life-changing decision, as he discovered his true passion for the double bass.
Seungmin's musical journey has taken him to prestigious music schools and venues around the world. He earned his master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with some of the big names in jazz scene, such as Buster Williams, Ingrid Jensen. Seungmin had the opportunity to take lessons with Jinkyo Park in Seoul and the legendary Buster Williams in New Jersey. He also participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Louis Hayes, Brian Blade, John Cowherd, Michael Mayo, and Harish Raghavan. In addition to his formal training, Seungmin has taken ensemble classes with many respected musicians. He has worked with Matt Holeman, Scott Wendholt (a member of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra), Jeremy Manasia, and Kris Rosenberg.
Seungmin's talent and versatility have allowed him to perform with various ensembles and venues in Korea and the United States. He has played at Diva Janus, VINGA, BARTICAN, Boogie Boogie, Sound Dog, Naeum Art Hall, CLUB MISIG, Giwon Art MUSEUM ‘VERSI,’ SOJEON MUSEUM in Korea, and Dizzy’s jazz club in New York. Seungmin has achieved significant milestones in his career. He won second prize at the Hyunsik Kim competition and has been praised for his unique style and sound.
Seungmin continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with his instrument, exploring new techniques and sounds to create music that resonates with audiences worldwide. Aside from his musical pursuits, Seungmin has a passion for scents. He loves coffee or perfume, whatever has a deep and dark scent, and believes that scents have the power to evoke emotions and memories.
