Richard

Grinding away on the bass for 30+ years now, I started on guitar and keyboards.

I've spent my musical career in multiple genres, working in the early 90's as music director and bassist in country with Trish Torline and the Bridge Street Band in Kentucky .

Played extensively at that time, doing shows with acts such as JD Crowe and the New South, Tom Wopat, and David Allan Coe.

Got into the jazz circuit as bass chair at a jazz dinner club in Lexington , KY in the early 90's.
From that, continued in the modern jazz genre as I moved to Nashville, TN in the early 2000's.

during that time, I performed along with jazz solo artist Sean O'Bryan Smith for around 6 years; also establishing Groove Therapy Records out of Nashville during that time where we co-produced a number of jazz works with artists such as Chuck Loeb, Gerald Albright, Skunk Baxter, Randy Becker,  and Malcolm Jamal-Warner.

Now working out of SW Florida, I am performing with a jazz/funk band "Playt!me, as well as once again producing with Sean in the New Age genre, with a hybrid of jazz & New Age.

Backgrounder: Shorty Rogers Plays Richard Rodgers

Source: JazzWax by Marc Myers

With spring less than a week away, it's time for upbeat West Coast jazz. The last time I posted on Shorty Rogers was over the holidays when I highlighted The Swingin' Nutcracker. Before that, I featured Chances Are It Swings as a Backgrounder. This week, it's the finger-snapping Shorty Rogers Plays Richard Rodgers, as suggested by Todd Selbert. Recorded in the winter of 1957 between January and April, the album for RCA is a swinger loaded with top West Coast ...
