Q'd Up

Q’d Up is a jazz combo made up of several BYU Faculty Members. Formerly known as FJQ, or Faculty Jazz Quartet, Q’d Up features faculty members Eric Hansen, Jay Lawrence, Steve Lindeman, Ron Saltmarsh, and Ray Smith. The group plays jazz standards and fan-favorites as well as originals written by the members of the group–all extremely talented musicians and professors with years of experience and a love for jazz under their belts. Q’d Up plays jazz that’s fun and new without losing the true spirit of the music, and it has been played on jazz radio stations across the country.

Q’d Up celebrates its enduring creative bounty on Tantara Records’ October 8 release Going Places. The venturesome quintet, formed in 1983 out of the jazz faculty at Brigham Young University, packs their seventh recording with eleven original compositions of hard-charging, straight-ahead jazz with bold progressive touches.
