Pierre Fenichel

Pierre Fenichel began playing classical guitar at the age of 9, then continued to explore music on his own. He trained at the Marseille Conservatory, where he won prizes in both the jazz and electroacoustic composition classes.

He has accompanied numerous musicians, including Cecil McLorin, Leyla McCalla, Henri Florens, Raphaël Imbert, Anne Paceo, and Célia Kaméni.

In 2014, he first performed as a leader, arranging and recording a project based on Dave Brubeck with Alain Soler and Cedrick Bec, again for the Durance label (Breitenfeld, Pierre Fenichel Trio, Durance label 2015).

In January 2017 and 2018, he participated in the New York Winter Jazz Festival, playing with Raphaël Imbert and Les Quatre Vents (Perrine Mansuy, Fred Pasqua, Christophe Leloil). In September 2019, the CD of original compositions, "Les Quatre Vents," was released on Laborie Jazz. In the fall of 2021, Pierre Fenichel released a second recording as a leader, "Frenchtown Connection" (Durance label), with South African trumpeter Marcus Wyatt.
With trumpeter Christophe Leloil, he recorded and toured with Open Minded feat. Julia Minkin (Onde label).

In April 2023, he released with Fred Pasqua and Robin Nicaise a trio album, "Les jours heureux," on Clapson Records, for which he composed several tracks.

2025 will be the year of the new WAKAN project, a trio of original compositions with South-Korean pianist Francesca Han and Fred Pasqua, but also the new Sighting Ensemble project, a sextet by Christophe Leloil with American pianist Rob Clearfield, Maud Fourmanoir (flute), Laetitia Pont (cello) and Fred Pasqua (drums). This project was recorded by Ben Rando at Eole studio in September 2024 and will be released in 2025. Pierre Fenichel also recorded a live CD with saxophonist Raphaël Imbert, "Songbook/ live à la gare" (Outhere label), which led to several concerts.

He has also toured jazz festivals (Juan les Pins, Jazz sous les Pommier, Nevers D'Jazz, etc.)
with the group Poetic Ways (Anne Paceo, Célia Kameni, Pierre-François Blanchard, Raphaël Imbert). A symphonic creation was performed at the Marseille Jazz des 5 Continents festival in June 2025.

In spring 2024, he created the music for the all-audience show Des Rivages (concerts at
Babel Minots festivals, Jazz sur la ville, etc.) with Caroline Tolla and Wim Welker. A
recording has been made in May 2025 for the Durance label.
He has participated in numerous concerts (Johan Farjot, Sébastien Lalisse, Paul Pioli, JP
Sempéré, etc.).
