Nickolas Monteiro

Hailed as "a serious piano force to be reckoned with" by Live and Amplified Magazine, Nick Monteiro is one of the most in-demand musicians in the Treasure Valley, with over 150 live performances last year. In 2022, he graduated from Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance, where he studied classical piano under Dr. Walden Hughes and Dr. Jayung Hong. Nick also pursued jazz piano and theory at NNU, playing in the Jazz Revival and Northwesterners ensembles. In his Junior year, Nick spent several months in Nashville, TN, training as an artist and studio pianist in rock, pop, and country at the Contemporary Music Center.

This extensive training prepared Nick for a career as a performing and studio artist. Monteiro has shared the stage with Elijah Rock, David Gluck, and Alisha Peru among many, and is on-call to play with several bands in the Boise area. Additionally, Nick has worked in the recording studio with artists Maddie Zahm, Roman Romero, MÔS, and more. In 2020, Nick Monteiro worked in Nashville, TN, to release his first single All I Need in collaboration with musicians throughout the US. Nick's most recent release, Jazz Revival, was recorded in 2022 with his combo from college, and has had positive reception from fans. In September 2023, Monteiro led his own Quartet at the Eagle Jazz Festival and the Ste Chapelle Love Idaho Jazz Festival.

Nick’s ventures into music education have been some of his favorites. He has volunteered and been on staff for the Gem State Jazz Camp, led clinics at the NNU Jazz Festival, and was a staff member for the Treasure Valley Vocal Jazz Camp. In November 2022, Nick gave a Master Class for Rhythm Sections in a Jazz Ensemble at College of Idaho. He also led jam sessions at the Gene Harris Jazz Festival in 2019 and performed at the same festival in 2022 for Club Night. Currently Nick is the owner of Monteiro Studios where he privately teaches piano, music theory,  music industry, songwriting, and garage bands. Nick represented his teaching studio in a recent visit to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, where he performed and gave music classes to elementary students there.
