Nette Robinson
Nette Robinson is a creative arranger. She writes for big band and has performed her charts with big bands including the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. She also writes for small ensembles. One of her main musical projects is "NETTE ROBINSON'S LITTLE BIG-BAND" featuring Tony Woods (saxophones) and Adrian Fry (trombone.) The LBB is a unique, innovative ensemble which celebrates and pays tribute to big-band legends by presenting imaginative reinterpretations of big-band classics, slimmed-down for a 5 piece band. The Little Big Band launches its first album "The Little Big Band Plays" April 28th 2010 in London. Since the first album, the LBB has expanded its repertoire to include works by Gil Evans, Chet Baker and Thelonious Monk.
As a fine artist, Nette Robinson is interested in interpreting into music art works. She is currently embarking on a long-term research project to compose new music inspired by the life and work of Dutch Modernist artist, Piet Mondrian.
Since early 2009, Nette Robinson has been collaborating on musical projects with Michael Garrick. They will be releasing their album "Remembered Time" and touring the UK this autumn. The album pays homage to Bill Evans and includes Evans' and Mike Garrick's compositions.
