Julien Hucq

Quickly becoming a household name, Julien Hucq’s rise can be attributed to his versatility as a world-class saxophonist and composer, which resonates across cultures and generations. Critics have raved about his latest jazz album, Light Blue, describing it as “magnificent”, “superlative”, “graceful”, “beautiful”, “energetic”, “upbeat", “sophisticated.” His work balances the “old-fashioned” with a “modern and creative twist” to make timeless classics with the best in the industry.

Julien is a native of Belgium and has lived in New York City since 2012. He has extensively toured and performed in Europe. Julien has recorded 9 albums and numerous EPs as a leader and producer that included numerous original compositions and unique arrangements. Julien has collaborated with artists of all backgrounds to compose, record and perform nationally and internationally.

Julien's latest release, “Butterfly Whisperer,” is an exquisite set of 2 songs featuring a jazz quartet to explore chamber music's possibilities — mixing traditional classical sound with pop music in a subtle and contemporary production. The EP epitomizes Julien’s mission as an artist to blend and create beautiful music that tells stories and brings people together.

Julien received a Master of Arts degree in 2013 from the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College, City University of New York. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Conservatoire de Lausanne, in Switzerland, and his Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales from Conservatoire National de la Région de Paris, CNR, France.
