Leslie Baker

Los Angeles–born bassist Leslie Baker began music early. Her father, pianist and vocal coach Dick Baker, started her on piano and music sight reading at age six, then encouraged her to play the upright bass at twelve. Soon after, she was performing with dad on his gigs. Since the early days, Leslie has grown into composing, arranging and producing on Ranch Cabin Records showcasing these talents in varied settings.

Named a Living Legend of Jazz and Blues in 2017, Leslie performs in many venues as a member of the Caltech Orchestra, LAPD concert and swing band, the chamber-jazz group “Transcendence” and various adaptations of the Leslie Baker Bands. She is strongly influenced by jazz and blues and has shared stages with many legends including rock-and-roll pioneer Earl Palmer, jazz great Billy Higgins, and blues legends Willie Dixon, Floyd Dixon and many others.
