Mark Johnston

Mark Johnston is a 20 year old music degree student, studying at Queens University in Belfast. He has been playing jazz for around four years and has had opportunities to work as a student with musicians such as Tina May, Martin Williams and Paul Eshelby.

Mark currently plays and composes in a variety of jazz settings and he is one third of 'The New Trio', with Alan Niblock on double bass and David Lyttle on drums. This exciting new trio plays a mix of original music and standards and regularly performs with guest soloists such as the leading young saxophonist Dave Howell. As well as leading his own trio and quartet, Mark regularly performs with the David Lyttle Quartet and Queens University Big Band.
