MUSIC: • leads The Bill Meyer Group, a popular dance band for over 30 years, • part of the acclaimed SBH Jazz Trio, at Berts Marketplace for over 8 years • composes and arranges music for TV, film and advertising • plays keyboards for shows at the Fisher, Masonic Temple, Michigan Opera Theater, and with the Detroit Symphony at Orchestra Hall • former music director, conductor and pianist for Motown's Martha Reeves • tours and records with jazz great Marcus Belgrave • has worked with such acts as Smokey Robinson, Cab Calloway, Natalie Cole,Savion Glover, and many others. • wrote and produced The Detroit Tribute to Paul Robeson and his Work for Peace • music directed and conducted Mosaic Theater’s “Now That I Can Dance” • music director for Steve Jone's Forgotten jazz opera

POLITICAL/CIVIC: • lifelong activist in the peace and justice movement • founding member of Jewish Voice for Peace (not Jewish) • longtime activist with The Palestine Office (not Palestinian) • lifelong member of the AFL, Detroit Federation of Musicians, Local 5 • recently retired from Wayne State University where he worked since 1967 • married 42 years to Twyla, two daughters, Tracy and Heather,two grandsons, Scott and Tristan • moved to Hamtramck in 2000 • former chair of the Hamtramck Human Relations Commission • helped organize the Hamtramck African American Recognition Dinner • initiated the move to re-establish the Hamtramck NAACP
