Sinti Rhythm
An infectious blend of European and American harmonies powered by string-based rhythms, this music includes classics from the Great American Songbook, compositions by Django, and selections from Sinti musicians like Bireli Lagrene, Stochelo Rosenberg, Dorado Schmitt, and Titi Winterstein.
Sinti Rhythm's performances throughout Massachusetts and the Northeast have included a three-year residency at Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge, an appearance at the Brooklyn Djangology Festival, the Django Reinhardt Centennial at the French Library and Cultural Center of Boston, and shows at Toad, Cantab Lounge, The Stork Club, Sherborn Inn, and Novartis.
The group has been interviewd on radio stations WMBR FM Cambridge, and WBUR Here and Now with Robin Young. They are currently recording their first EP, planned for release in April 2010.
Their instrumentation consists of a traditional Gypsy rhythm section of two guitars and an upright bass, with clarinet, and occasionally embellished with additional instruments like violin by such masters as Matt Glaser and Jason Anick, mandolin/guitar by John McGann, saxophone by Andy Voelker and Stan McDonald, and vocals by Mollie Malone.
Sinti Rhythm has expertise in planning and producing musical programs, is available for private functions, weddings, and corporate events with appropriate amplification and are available in combinations varying from duo to quintet. To book for engagement, contact [email protected].
