Inga Vamze
Latvian saxophonist, improviser and composer Inga Vamze works within experimental and cross-genre music. Based in Copenhagen, her practice is rooted in collaboration that moves between acoustic and electronic settings, approaching the saxophone both as an instrument and as a source of texture.
Active across the Baltic, Scandinavian and wider European experimental music scenes, Inga moves between a range of collaborative projects. Her current work includes TRĪNEunINGA, a Latvian ambient duo built around saxophones and electronics, the experimental rock band Grupa DZ, and Akvæn, a Latvian/Polish improvising duo with drummer Patrycja Wybrańczyk, centred around tenor saxophone and drums. She is also part of Sphaerics, a new jazz trio with Alexandre Herer and Devin Gray.
Her musical path has developed across the Nordic and Baltic regions. She studied Jazz Music at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Currently she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Performance at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) in Copenhagen.
Alongside her artistic work, Vamze is involved in international cultural collaboration. In 2026-2027, she works with the Latvian Music Information Centre in connection with the Baltic partner country focus at jazzahead!, extending her practice into the broader network of musicians as well as institutions, connecting the Baltic and international music scenes.
